This hand is not a play hand so much as it is a story hand. No doubt, you've seen references to various conventions in books and bridge columns and possibly you have used a few conventions yourself.
Science! Good or bad?
The players who bid these hands (this was the finals of an important event) thought they were bidding in perfect harmony and until the dummy came down, they believed they were doing fine.
South thought that North's bidding promised all the aces and he decided that if North was looking for a grand slam, he had a good enough hand to bid it. Do you agree?
